Tide Tracks Patterns — It Doesn't Diagnose

Tide is a cycle tracking tool. It helps you notice patterns in your body, understand your phases, and stay on top of your rhythm. That's genuinely valuable — but it's not the same thing as medical care.

Nothing in Tide — not the predictions, not the insights, not the phase descriptions, not anything — should be taken as a medical diagnosis, medical advice, or a substitute for professional healthcare.

Tide is not a medical device and has not been evaluated by the FDA or any other regulatory authority.

Predictions Are Estimates, Not Guarantees

Tide predicts your upcoming cycle dates based on the data you've entered. These predictions use patterns in your past cycles to estimate what's ahead.

But bodies aren't clockwork. Your cycle can shift for all kinds of reasons — stress, sleep, travel, illness, life changes, and medications. Hormonal therapies in particular (including hormonal contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy, and gender-affirming hormone treatment) can substantially change cycle timing, flow, and whether you cycle at all. Tide's predictions get better over time as it learns your patterns, but they are always estimates. Please don't rely on them as certainties.

Tide Is Not for Contraception or Conception

Do not use Tide to prevent pregnancy. Tide is not a contraceptive tool. It is not designed, tested, or validated for that purpose.

Do not use Tide to plan a pregnancy. Tide is not a fertility tracker. It is not designed, tested, or validated for conception planning, and its cycle estimates should not be used to time intercourse for the purpose of becoming pregnant.

If you need contraceptive guidance or are trying to conceive, please talk to a healthcare provider.

When to Seek Medical Care

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately.

Tide can help you notice things about your body — and sometimes what you notice deserves a conversation with a doctor or nurse. Please reach out to a healthcare provider if you experience any of the following:

This list isn't exhaustive. When in doubt, ask a professional. That's never an overreaction.

A Note on Sensitivity

Cycle tracking can intersect with experiences that deserve real support — including disordered eating and body image concerns, pregnancy loss, and infertility. If logging in Tide makes things harder rather than easier, it's okay to step back from the app and talk to someone you trust.

If you'd like professional support in the US:

Use Tide as a Tool, Not a Doctor

Tide is here to help you understand your body better. Think of it as a journal that happens to be smart about patterns — not as a healthcare provider.

Bring your Tide data to your appointments if it's helpful. Your logs and patterns can be useful context for a healthcare provider. But let them be the ones to interpret what it means for your health.
